Creating a memorable advert
There are a number of stages involved in producing a results-driven advert for TV, social media or video streaming platforms, and it all starts with a great idea or concept that is focused on accomplishing the original brief provided by the client.
Script
Once the brief is understood and the concept is defined, we move onto the script. This provides the basis of the advert/commercial, and our focus is on developing this with our team of copywriters before then testing the effectiveness on our targets demographic before moving to the next stage.
Pre-production
Pre-production involves the storyboarding of the advert, the creation of a shot list, and the identification of the required equipment to achieve the results. At this stage we will also be finding actors, extras, identifying possible sites for the shoots, and making an approach to any authorities, land/building owners or studios we need to get permission to shoot. It is this phase of the video process that can often dictate the success of the final product, and so we leave no stone unturned in the pre-production stage.
Compliance
Television adverts need to comply with one of either BCAP or CAP codes in the UK. We use Clearcast, a firm that take on the approvals process on our behalf, ensuring the script and content is compliant with the UK rules for advertising. The process of approval usually takes up to two weeks.
Production
We are well-versed in all elements of production, which effectively relates to the shooting of the advert. From multi-location shoots that include hyperlapse, timelapse and drone footage, to studio-based cast shooting and everything in between, when it comes to the shoot we ensure we are well-organised and super-efficient in getting the footage we need to work with.
Post-production
Post-production comprises the edit, addition of animations, motion-graphics, effects and music, to polish the advert and provide the finishing touches that elevate it to becoming a proper production which not only achieves the brief, but aspires to exceed all expectations.
